Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews were joined by about a dozen acts, including Kenny Chesney, Norah Jones, Jason Mraz, Jeff Tweedy, The Bodeans and others to support the cause – assisting family farms across the States and educating consumers about homegrown products.

The weekend prior to the release of his new cd, “Le Noise” (out yesterday), Neil Young was in fine form, playing a set of old favorites mixed in with some of the new material. Young followed the format of his newest recording by playing most of set alone, accompanied by just his electric guitar, sending sound waves and feedback into the night air before the packed stadium crowd.
Neil switched things up late in the set, playing organ on “Mother Earth,” and then acoustic guitar on “Long May You Run.” For the set’s finale, Neil went electric and was joined by some special guests.
