Only in the U.K. could a music awards show get away with handing out a trophy called “Best Act In The World Today.”
Q magazine held their annual “Q Awards” on Monday, and Kasabian walked away with the honor of being named BAITWT, beating out Green Day, Muse, Kings Of Leon and Arcade Fire.
Held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Paul McCartney accepted the “Classic Album” award for “Band On The Run,” saying, "The Beatles were a pretty hard act to follow, and we followed them," before giving some advice to upcoming generations of musicians: "To all the younger bands, which is pretty much everyone, keep rockin'. I love ya." then adding, "To Wings and The Beatles, thank you for getting me here. And, this one's for Linda!"
Green Day took home the “Best Live Act” prize, while Bryan Ferry picked up the “Icon” award.

Kasabian are on a break these days, before they start work on the follow-up to 2009’s “West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.”
Singer Tom Meighan told the Daily Star, “We’re getting back in the studio in December. It’s been nice to have a break but we are ready to get back on it. Having kids has inspired (guitarist) Serge (Pizzorno) but I’m way too immature to think about becoming a dad myself.”
“We think about the next album every day,” added Serge. “We’ve done some demos and it’s going to be f***in’ amazing. It’s going to be different from the last, definitely.”
Meighan will be featured on a new single being released to raise funds for UNICEF’s Pakistan Flood Children’s Appeal and the Harley Staples Cancer Trust.
The Kasabian frontman has recorded “Viva Le Revolution,” with Leicester band Superevolver, with all proceeds from sales to UNICEF and the Harley Staples Cancer Trust, a Leicester charity set up in memory of local eight-year old Harley, who lost his battle with cancer last November.
Written by Superevolver frontman James Mabbett, "Viva Le Revolution ft. Tom Meighan" will be available to download from iTunes, Amazon, Zune, last.fm, Myspace and Spotify from November 8th through Telescope Records. The download also features a bonus remix from Dan Thomas.
