Breaking news this afternoon that Poison frontman Bret Michaels is in critical condition at an undisclosed Los Angeles-area hospital following a massive brain hemorrhage, just weeks after an emergency appendectomy in San Antonio, Texas.
Michaels had been recovering from the April 12 surgery in a private care facility specializing in rehab for diabetic patients.
Various media reports indicate Michaels had complained of a severe headache yesterday and was rushed to the hospital, where tests revealed the hemorrhage; he’ll remain under close observation in ICU for the new few days while doctors try to determine the cause.
A subarachnoid hemorrhage is bleeding from the base of the brain stem; it’s too early to know if it is related, in any way, to Bret’s surgery or his diabetes.
Michaels had been on a solo tour when he went into surgery, forcing him to postpone several weeks of dates; he is also currently appearing in The Celebrity Apprentice, which I’ve been following here for weeks.
